Advertising & Sponsorships

Tubara's Advertising Policy

What We Control (No Ads from Tubara!)

Tubara never serves advertisements to your child:

  • No personalized ads from YouTube
  • No tracking cookies or analytics
  • No third-party ad networks
  • No behavioral targeting
  • Privacy-enhanced YouTube embeds (youtube-nocookie.com)

Your child's viewing experience is completely private and ad-free from Tubara's side.

What We Cannot Control (Creator Content)

⚠️ Educational videos may contain creator sponsor mentions

Many educational YouTube creators are supported by sponsors like educational platforms (Brilliant, Skillshare), book publishers, or educational product companies. These sponsor mentions are part of the video content itself and cannot be filtered out by Tubara.

Examples you might see:

  • "Thanks to [Company] for sponsoring this video..."
  • "Learn more at [website]..."
  • Brief product demonstrations (educational tools, books)
  • Creator recommendations for learning resources

Typical duration: 10-30 seconds per video, usually at the beginning or end.

Why Educational Creators Use Sponsors

Educational content creators need funding to produce high-quality educational videos. Many choose sponsors over traditional advertising because:

  • Better alignment: Sponsors are typically educational companies
  • Less intrusive: Brief mentions vs. multiple ad interruptions
  • Creator control: They choose sponsors relevant to their content
  • Higher quality: Funding supports better production values

These mentions are typically educational in nature (learning platforms, books, STEM tools) rather than consumer products.

Age-Specific Policies

For Children Under 13 (COPPA Protected)

Your child will only see "Made for Kids" (MFK) content that you've approved:

  • No personalized ads from YouTube (COPPA requirement)
  • Limited ad formats on MFK content
  • ⚠️ May contain creator sponsor mentions (part of video content)
  • You approve every channel before your child can access it

Example: A science channel might mention "Thanks to our sponsor, [Educational Company]" at the start of a video about volcanoes.

For Ages 13-18 (Parent-Reviewed Content)

For teenagers, you use Parent Review to approve every channel:

  • You review and approve every channel using Parent Review
  • ⚠️ Videos may include:
  • Creator sponsor mentions
  • Standard YouTube ads (on non-MFK videos)
  • Product recommendations
  • You have full control through channel approval

Note: Ages 13-18 are not covered by COPPA, but Tubara still requires your approval for every channel as part of our family-safe approach.

Your Control as a Parent

You Are Always in Control

You approve every channel before your child can watch ✅ You can preview videos before approving channels ✅ You can remove channels at any time ✅ You receive notifications when channels are added

If you find sponsor content inappropriate for your child, simply remove that channel from their approved list.

How to Evaluate Channels for Sponsor Content

When reviewing a channel for approval:

  1. Watch 2-3 recent videos to see if they contain sponsor mentions
  2. Check video descriptions - sponsors are often listed
  3. Note the frequency - how often does the creator mention sponsors?
  4. Evaluate relevance - are sponsors educational and age-appropriate?

Tip: Many high-quality educational channels (CrashCourse, Kurzgesagt, SmarterEveryDay) use sponsors but maintain excellent educational content. The decision is yours!
